WORKSHOP ON POLITICAL ECONOMY

Bruneck|Brunico, 26-27 November 2021


We invite submissions to the Fifth unibz Workshop on Political Economy, which will be held at the Bruneck-Brunico branch of the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano on Friday, November 26th and Saturday, November 27th, 2021.

The workshop aims at bringing together scholars studying the economic causes and consequences of political phenomena and institutions. 

We encourage submissions of theoretical and empirical papers from economics and political science, with a particular emphasis on topics related to:

  • Political economy and geography.
  • Political economy of transportation and infrastructures.
  • Political economy of populism.
  • Political economy of conflict.


We welcome submission of unpublished papers and extended abstracts for work in progress. Submissions should be sent by October 10, 2021, to
federico.boffa@unibz.it.

Authors of accepted papers will be notified by October, 20, 2021.


Earlier editions of the workshop in 2016-19 counted with the participation of prominent scholars from all around the world, including Maja Adena (WZB Berlin), Davin Chor (Dartmouth), Patricia Funk (Svizzera Italiana), Bård Harstad (Oslo), Horacio Larreguy (ITAM), Massimo Morelli (Bocconi), Gaia Narciso (Trinity College Dublin), Per Pettersson-Lidbom (Stockholm), Michela Redoano (Warwick), Martín Rossi (San Andrés), Andrei Shleifer (Harvard) and Melanie Wasserman (UCLA), among others.

There is no registration fee and the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano will reimburse accommodation and travel costs, according to specified guidelines.
